MANILA, Philippines — Senator Imee Marcos on Tuesday said Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has apologized for his heated remarks toward President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The senator disclosed the matter to reporters in an ambush interview, adding that she understood where the mayor was coming from.
“Ang lumapit sa akin ay si Mayor Baste Duterte. Nagsorry nang nagsorry,” she said.
(Mayor Baste Duterte approached me. He apologized over and over again.)
The 36-year-old mayor earlier lashed out at the country’s chief executive, calling on him to resign.
Despite these remarks, the senator defended Duterte, saying the mayor is only emotional considering the challenges their family is facing.
“Naintindihan ko naman, syempre sobrang emosyonal siya syempre isipin mo naman e ikukulong ang tatay at ate mo. Talaga namang magrerebolusyon ang inyong damdamin,” she said.

Marcos was pertaining to the looming dread surrounding the International Criminal Court’s investigation on former President Rodrigo Duterte’s bloody war on drugs.
Apart from the former chief executive, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said Vice President Sara Duterte, along Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, would also be identified as secondary and tertiary accused due to their alleged involvement in the barbaric drug campaign.
