MANILA, Philippines — Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte announced on Sunday afternoon that she will attend the “Bagong Pilipinas” kick-off rally at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

“Mga kababayan, dadalo po ako sa Bagong Pilipinas Kickoff Rally sa Quirino Grandstand sa Manila. Duterte also expressed her support to various sectors in Davao City fighting against Charter change (Cha-cha) or constitutional reform.

“Kasama rin ako sa prayer rally ng iba’t ibang sektor sa Davao City laban sa isinusulong na Charter change. Mahalagang makita at maintindihan natin ang panganib na nakaamba sa atin oras na tuluyan nating isinuko ang ating Saligang Batas sa kamay ng mga taong may personal at politikal na interes,” the DepEd head said.

(I will also supporting the prayer rally of different sectors in Davao City against the proposed Charter change. We must see and understand the danger that threatens us when we completely surrender our Constitution to the hands of people with personal and political interests.)

“Manindigan tayo laban sa pagbabago sa ating Saligang Batas sa pamamagitan ng “Pera kapalit ng pirma para sa People’s Initiative,” she added.

(Let’s take a stand against changing our Constitution through “Money in exchange for signatures for the People’s Initiative.)

Earlier, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other government officials, celebrities, and personalities would attend the rally, which would be live-streamed nationwide.

Aside from this, PCO said the registered individuals might also avail of various assistance from the government, such as the “Serbisyo Fair” for beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and eCard enrollment verification of record, loan application and housing programs under the Government Service Insurance System.

Others include civil registration services under the Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Identification System Registration and the ePhilID Issuance, and issuance of clearance for jobseekers under the National Bureau of Investigation.
