PNP: Over 2,000 cops to secure Bagong Pilipinas rally

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed over 2,000 police officers to secure the “Bagong Pilipinas” kick-off rally at the Quirino Grandstand in the City of Manila. 

“[Nasa] 2,093 from NCRPO (National Capital Region Police Office) po. Naka deploy din po ang mga PNP mobility assets po,” PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo told INQUIRER.net in a Viber message. 

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority also advised motorists to take alternate routes and avoid roads leading to Rizal Park and Quirino Grandstand. 

It said in a separate advisory that Roxas Boulevard from UN Avenue to P. Burgos Ave. will be closed to traffic including M. Kalaw (both sides from Roxas Blvd. to Taft Ave.); Burgos Ave. (both sides and Finance Road; Orosa Street and Bonifacio Drive (from Anda Circle to P. Burgos Ave.)

Based on the announcement from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other government officials, celebrities, and personalities are expected to grace the event. 

The rally will be livestreamed nationwide.
