MANILA The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) issued on Friday an advisory for the payment of wages on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared as additional special nonworking days for the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Labor Advisory No. 1, series of 2024, signed by Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, said that if the employee does not work on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10, the “no work, no pay” principle shall apply unless there is a favorable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement granting payment on a special day.

For work done in excess of eight hours, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the hour rate for the day.
