DMW to extend aid to arrested OFW in Japan

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday said that it will extend assistance to an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was recently arrested in Japan.

According to the DMW, the OFW was implicated in the case of a deceased Japanese couple whose bodies were found under their house last week.

The DMW did not name the OFW in their statement.

DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac also said that the department is closely coordinating with their Japanese counterparts and condoled with to the family of the Japanese couple.

“As we condole with the families of the deceased Japanese couple, we assure our kababayan and his family of our utmost assistance in close coordination with Ambassador Milen Garcia and the PHL Embassy in Tokyo,” Cacdac said.

Cacdac also told the DMW office in Tokyo to provide updates on the OFW’s condition and to extend legal assistance.

The DMW likewise added that it will continue to provide updates as more information is received.
