MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed over P1 million worth of assistance to beneficiaries in need throughout the Caraga Region in 2023.
In a statement on Wednesday, the DSWD in Caraga said it served 264,903 individuals with a total of P1,360,011,499 aid through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
The agency said it implemented the initiative through the Crisis Intervention Section or “the government’s social safety net mechanism to assist families confronted with crises and financial deficiencies.”
Of the total, 42 percent of beneficiaries, or 109,073 individuals, received medical assistance, such as hospital bills, laboratory expenses, hemodialysis, chemotherapy, anti-rabies treatment, occupational therapy, provision of medical equipment, and blood transfusion.
For this year, DSWD said the Crisis Intervention Section is working on making their services more accessible and quick.
