MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday said that a Taiwanese national was arrested in Makati City for alleged involvement in human trafficking.
According to the BI, Yuan Bo-Chun, 29, was arrested in his residence on Monday by operatives from the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Special Operations Group-Regional Intelligence Division (RSOG-RID) and Taiwanese authorities.
Records showed that Yuan, whom the police said is “an undesirable alien and poses a risk to public safety and security,” has a pending arrest warrant issued by the Taiwan Taipei District Prosecutors Office in November last year for human trafficking.
Authorities also found Lin Jyun-Ze, a 22-year-old Taiwanese, in Yuan’s residence during his arrest, who was also allegedly caught engaging in telecommunications fraud.
Meanwhile, authorities also found firearms, illegal drugs, and several SIM cards and modems.
Lin was turned over to the National Capital Region Police Office, the BI said.
Yuan is currently detained in the BI facility Taguig City while awaiting deportation.
