Cops arrest ‘Christopher de Leon’ namesake for cable wire theft

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a namesake of actor Christopher de Leon in Manila on Tuesday morning after being caught in the act of stealing a Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) cable wire worth P60,000.

According to Manila Police District (MPD), its officers patrolling P. Ocampo Street near the corner of Adriatico Street in Barangay 719, Malate, chanced upon de Leon at around 11:30 a.m. trying to steal the internet cable wire of PLDT.

The suspect was immediately arrested.

Confiscated from him were 12-meter-long PLDT copper internet cable wire and the steel saw and pliers he used to cut the wire.

The suspect is currently in police custody and will face a case for violating the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.
