MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said that he is more concerned with proposed amendments to the economic rather than political provisions of the Constitution.“But I think, in the present day, we can have these discussions later on. But for the present day, my concern is the economic provisions, and I don’t want to confuse the issue any longer,” Marcos said in a 24 Oras interview.

Marcos said that he is  still mulling whether or not term extensions will be a good thing for the country.

“Could be. I don’t know. What are we trying to achieve first of all? If you look at other countries, for example, the United States, whose political system we are styled after, iba-ibang state, some states have term limits, other states do not have. I don’t know how that will translate to our own experience,” he added.

Marcos likewise said that he “wants to keep the issue clear” for amendments of economic provisions to succeed.

“I do not want to jeopardize the success of the amendments to the economic provisions by putting any other issues. Let’s keep the issue clear,” he said.
