Marcos leads launching of Lung Transplant Program of LCP-NKTI

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday led the unveiling of the Lung Transplant Program of the Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP).

The Lung Transplant Program was made in collaboration with the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).

“Today we celebrate the collaboration between two hospitals, which, more than neighbors, are partners in battling diseases that inflict pain on our people and on their pockets as well,” said Marcos in his speech.

According to the LCP, the Lung Transplant Program aims to offer services that improve the lives of those afflicted with irreversible lung diseases.

“In LCP and NKTI, these words ring true: never was so much owed by so many,” said Marcos, recounting the COVID-19’s impact on the country.

Marcos lauded both the LCP and the NKTI for their response during the pandemic.

“While the pandemic is over, the diseases that prompted the establishment and the LCP still remain, and in increasing numbers,” said Marcos.

The President cited the country’s leading illnesses and causes of death in 2022 as pulmonary.

The partnership between LCP and NKTI can be a template in which hospitals pool their resources and share assets to boost patient care and improve bottom lines,” said Marcos.

The LCP was established in 1981 by Marcos’ father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
