MANILA, Philippines — The recently concluded celebrations of the Feast of Sto. Niño in the cities and provinces of Cebu, Aklan, and Manila were “generally peaceful,” with no major untoward incidents reported, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said the collaborative efforts of the country’s law enforcement agencies and local government units kept law and order at the events.

“I am pleased to announce that our security assessments yielded positive outcomes,” Acorda said pertaining to the Sinulog Festival in Cebu, the Ati-atihan Festival in Kalibo, Aklan, and the Lakbayaw in Tondo.
“These events were generally peaceful, with no major incidents reported throughout the duration of the festivities,” he disclosed in a press conference.

Acorda said the PNP ensured public safety by deploying personnel from its regional offices in Region 7 (Central Visayas), Region 6 (Western Visayas), and the National Capital Region.
