MANILA, Philippines – The prosecution said on Monday that the defense must present Chief Justice Renato Corona or “face the consequences.”
Quezon Representative Lorenzo Tanada told reporters in a press briefing that they thought the defense has run out of witnesses after Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile questioned the relevance of some of them.
“They are already nearing the end, they have reached the bottom of the barrel,” Tanada said.
“The story that they are trying to tell is still unclear,” he added.
“If there are no other witnesses and they don’t really want to present Chief Justice Corona then they should say so, and we can all move on,” Tanada said.
“At the end of the day its Chief Justice Renato Corona [who must testify],” he said.
“Now if they don’t like to present Chief Justice Corona then they face the consequences of how they will explain the evidence that we have presented,” he said.
“They have not really shown any evidence to dispute the evidence that the prosecution has presented,” Tanada said.
