MANILA, Philippines — A total of 25,000 barangays nationwide have adopted the government’s campaign to boost food security by setting up community gardens planted with vegetables listed in the popular folk song “Bahay Kubo.”

Undersecretary Chito Valmocina of the Department of the Interior and Local Government said that barangays with community gardens have grown to 25,000 through the so-called “Kalinisan Day” campaign of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Valmocina made the statement as he rendered a report of the “Kalinisan Day” campaign’s accomplishments, which the agency launched on Jan. 6 through Memorandum Circular No. 41.
