Comelec starts bid for online voting

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has initiated the procurement process for a P465-million contract for an internet voting system that would be used in next year’s overseas absentee polls.

According to the invitation to bid posted on Thursday on the Comelec website, the approved budget for the contract for the Online Voting and Counting System is P465,810,926.57.

Interested bidders may acquire the bid documents for P50,000 from the special bids and awards committee’s secretariat office in Intramuros, Manila, or via the Comelec website.

The pre-bid conference is set on Jan. 25 at the Comelec central office. The bids must be duly received by the secretariat on or before 9 a.m. of Feb. 8.

The bids will be opened at 10:30 a.m. the same day in the presence of the bidders’ representatives. Bids received in excess of the approved budget shall automatically be rejected at the bid opening, according to the invitation. —JEROME ANING
