MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that it has begun the distribution of cash aid for the victims of the magnitude 6.8 earthquake in Sarangani in November 2023.
According to the DSWD, more than 5,000 families from Alabel, Malapatan, and Glan sustained damages in their houses due to the earthquake.
Those with totally damaged houses were given P27,180, while those with partially damaged houses were given P13,590 to help rebuild or repair their houses.
The department said that 621 families claimed the assistance on Thursday’s first day of the payout.

The financial assistance is part of the department’s Emergency Cash Transfer.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, there were 11 reported deaths due to the earthquake which struck last November 17.
