BI orders manhunt for Jordanian fugitive after escaping authorities

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said that it launched a search for a Jordanian man who escaped after his court hearing.

The BI identified the man as Tarek Nihad Siam, 47 years old.

Siam was arrested in 2022 due to violations such as gun possession and physical injuries.

According to the BI, Siam also has a wanted record in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for assault and alcohol abuse.

On January 16, Siam was brought to the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 237 for his gun possession case.

After the hearing, Siam requested to use the restroom, which was guarded by a BI agent. However, after a prolonged period of time, the agent forcefully opened the door, and discovered that Siam escaped from a small window in the restroom.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco then launched a search to locate and arrest Siam.
