Cops nab man with over P7.1-M shabu in Manila

Authorities arrested a 25-year-old man with over P7.1-million worth of suspected crystal meth, locally known as shabu, during a buy-bust operation in Manila, police said on Tuesday.

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested a 25-year-old man with over P7.1-million worth of suspected crystal meth, locally known as shabu, during a buy-bust operation in Manila, police said on Tuesday.

Suspect Jason Trinidad Danguecan, or “Ali,” was apprehended on Monday at P. Campa Street Corner A. Mendoza Street in Barangay 463, Sampaloc, around 7:16 p.m., according to a report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

The NCRPO said operatives of the Manila Police District – Drug Enforcement Unit (MPD-DEU) were able to confiscate two plastic bags or 1 kilogram and 50 grams of shabu worth P7,140,000 and 69 pieces of fake 1,000-peso bills or buy-bust money from the suspect.

Danguecan is currently detained at the MPD-DEU custodial facility, while all seized pieces of evidence were submitted to the same office for “qualitative and quantitative examination.”

Moreover, the suspect will face a complaint for violating Republic Act  9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
