LEGAZPI CITY — The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bicol region on Monday formally launched the “KASUROG Cops Bike Patrol” at Camp Gen. Simeon A. Ola in this city.

Police Brigadier General Andre Dizon, PNP Bicol chief, said in an interview Monday, that the ‘bike patrol’ aims to increase police visibility in their areas against crime while promoting health and fitness through exercise among their ranks.

The use of bicycles is also the PNP’s way to contribute to the conservation of the environment because they will not have to use their motor vehicles during patrols, minimizing pollution in their areas, Dizon added.

He said the police should always be visible in areas of convergence, thoroughfares, and public places so the community would feel secure.

“Aside from bike patrol I also ordered the chief of police to establish base camp and assistance desks in highways for security of the motorists and deterring criminal activities while swiftly responding to incidents within the community,” he said.
