MANILA, Philippines — Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula does not endorse, much less sell, health supplements, the Archdiocese of Manila warned the public on Sunday after the discovery of social media scammers using the cardinal’s name.

“The FB account with the name Jose F. Cardinal Advincula is not an official account nor in any way connected to the Archbishop of Manila,” Fr. Roy Bellen of the Office of Communications announced over the weekend on the archdiocese’s official Facebook account.

“Please help us report this account that misrepresents the Cardinal and is sadly only being used to sell products for profit,” he added. The bogus Facebook account that claimed to have nearly 570,000 followers has been taken down.
