LUCENA CITY – Five areas in Batangas and Laguna have been granted by Malacañang a one-day “special non-working holiday” this month to celebrate their local events.
Palace has declared Monday, January 15 a holiday in San Pablo city, Laguna to mark the 29th Coconut Festival, a thanksgiving rite for the local coconut industry.
On Tuesday, January 16, Batangas city will also have its special fiesta holiday.
Malacañang also declared January 18, Thursday, a special non-working holiday in Sta. Rosa, Laguna for the city’s 22nd founding anniversary and the 25th Sikhayan Festival.

The festival aims to recognize the resilience and perseverance of the natives.
Palace also proclaimed January 20, Saturday, a holiday in Lipa city, Batangas for the Coffee Festival.
Also known as ‘Kapeng Barako Festival,’ the occasion recognizes the rich culture of Batangas and its image as the coffee granary of the country.
Meanwhile, on January 31, Wednesday, holiday has also been declared in Lian, Batangas.
The town will observe Liberation Day to remember the time in history when it was freed by American forces from Japanese invaders on January 31, 1945.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamations by the authority of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
He said the declarations are meant to give residents the “full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebrations.”
Copies of the Malacañang declarations were posted on the Facebook pages of the local governments.
