Marcos names new Subic Bay Freeport chief

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed businessman Eduardo Aliño as the new administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, replacing Jonathan Tan, who was in turn named undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said both Aliño and Tan took their oath of office before the President in Malacañang on Friday.

Before his appointment, Aliño was president and chairman of the STAR Group of Companies, which is involved in the port industry, Subic Bay Freeport Grain Terminal Services Inc. and Mega Equipment International Corp., among others.

Tan, meanwhile, is a former mayor of Pandan, Antique, and a businessman who owns the JDT Construction and Supply and president of JDT Trading.
