President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the launching of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) new disaster response command center (DRCC) and a project that will focus on a resilient and proactive approach when it comes to disaster management.
The new DRCC, which was inaugurated by Marcos and Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian, will be operational 24/7.
The President was the guest honor during the 73rd founding anniversary of the DSWD, where he commended social workers as “heroes and angels” who “walk and work.”

The command center will be a “central hub” for the government’s disaster monitoring, reporting and coordination of preparedness and response efforts.
It will be equipped with advanced information and communication assets to ensure “seamless collaboration” between the DSWD’s central office, its field offices in the regions, other member-agencies of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and other stakeholders. —DEMPSEY REYES
