Worker dead, 2 hurt in Laguna landslide

6 abducted Chinese still missing as their 3 workers freed in Laguna

LUCENA CITY — A construction worker died and two others were seriously injured on Thursday, Jan. 11, after dislodged soil and rocks buried them in Liliw town, Laguna.

The Laguna police said in a report that Vijay Salsisod, Joel Basco, and Eduardo dela Cueva were doing riprap work around 4:30 p.m. in a river dam construction project in Barangay Calumpang.

Suddenly, the upper portion of the land in their work area collapsed, and the dislodged soil and stones buried the workers.

Salsisod was dead when recovered, while Basco and Dela Cueva survived and suffered grave injuries.

The injured were rushed to the Nagcarlan District Hospital in the neighboring town for treatment.
