Pagasa: Light rains likely in Luzon, fair weather for rest of PH

MANILA, Philippines — Light rain showers are possible in most parts of Northern Luzon while generally fair weather may be expected for the rest of the country on Wednesday, the state weather agency said.

In an advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that the northeastern monsoon, locally known as amihan, and easterlies continue to influence the country’s weather.

“Malaki ang tsansa ng mahihinang pagulan partikular dito sa silangang bahagi ng Northern Luzon, iyan ‘yung Cagayan Valley, habang sa nalalabing bahagi ng bansa, generally fair weather lang po tayo,” weather specialist Obet Badrina said in a morning forecast.

(There is a big chance of light rains, especially here in the eastern part of Northern Luzon, the Cagayan Valley, while in the rest of the country, we generally have fair weather.)

“Posible rin ang light rains sa ilang bahagi dito sa Luzon habang posible ang thunderstorms sa nalalabing bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao,” he added.

(Light rains are also possible in some parts here in Luzon, while thunderstorms are possible in the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao.)

According to Badrina, Pagasa has not monitored any low-pressure area inside and outside the Philippine area of Responsibility (PAR). This situation, he noted, may last until the weekend.

But he also said that the state weather service is anticipating one tropical cyclone to enter PAR this month.

Meanwhile, below is the forecast temperature range in key cities or areas nationwide for Wednesday, Jan. 10:
