MANILA, Philippines — The estimated number of participating devotees in the 2024 Traslacion has exceeded the 1-million mark, reported Quiapo Church Command Post on Tuesday morning.
According to the command post, the number of devotees joining the procession has reached about 1,008,000.
The estimate was given from 8 a.m. until noon, representing around half the expected number of devotees celebrating the 2024 Feast of the Black Nazarene.
Quiapo Church previously estimated the volume of attendees to be more than two million by the end of the event.
Traslacion officially commenced at 4:45 a.m. after the Nazarene statue departed from Quirino Grandstand to proceed to its route to Quiapo Church.
Meanwhile, around 65,000 devotees have been recorded to be gathering within the vicinity of the church.
On Monday, Quiapo Church officials said they expect the 2024 Traslacion procession (Nazareno 2024) to finish faster than previous years.
