MANILA, Philippines — Fire hit the rooftop of a 45-story building in Barangay Bel-Air, Makati city, local Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said on Monday.
BFP in Makati city confirmed in a radio interview that it was Altaire Tower’s roof deck which caught fire earlier at 10:35 a.m., prompting firefighters to raise the first alarm.
The situation was declared under control by 10:56 a.m. and was deemed fire out by 11:37 a.m.
Videos sent in by motorist Xienina Lim, who was driving along the Kalayaan flyover en route to Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue, showed thick black smoke near buildings in the area of Makati Avenue.
Another video taken by her from Jupiter Street gave a closer look, which showed that the smoke was actually coming from a building along Malugay Street.
Firefighters on the scene are still determining the cause of the blaze as of now.
