DoJ announces results of new Vizconde massacre case probe
MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice has begun a much-awaited press conference on the results of the reinvestigation of the Vizconde massacre 20 years ago.
As of press time, the National Bureau on Investigation Death Investigation Division head Romulo Asis has begun his presentation with a background on the case.
Estrellita Vizconde, 51, and her daughters, Carmela, 19, and Marie Jennifer, 7, were killed in their Parañaque City home in the wee hours of June 30, 1991.
A Supreme Court ruling that acquitted Hubert Webb and five others of the murders prompted the authorities to conduct a reinvestigation into the case.
It had a deadline before June 30 this year as the prescription period to file charges against new suspects would lapse on this day.
