ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Policemen arrested two men who yielded some P500,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) and a handgun in a sting operation in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga over the weekend.

In a statement on Monday, the Central Luzon police identified the arrested persons as alias Jess and alias Pakyaw, both suspected to be involved in illegal firearms trade.

Police said the suspects were arrested on Saturday, Jan. 6, after an undercover San Fernando police officer pretended to be a buyer of a 9-mm caliber handgun.

Some 70 grams of shabu and a pistol loaded with six live bullets were seized from the duo.

The two face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“This accomplishment serves as another testament to the determination of our police in safeguarding our communities from the ill effects of illegal drugs and from other forms of lawlessness,” said regional police director Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr. in a statement. INQ
