MANILA, Philippines — A generally fair weather condition with chances of isolated rain awaits residents of Luzon, including Metro Manila, in the next two to three days, the state weather bureau said on Monday.

A day before Traslacion proper, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Rhea Torres said in Metro Manila alone, the temperature would be between 24 to 31 degrees celsius until Thursday, January 11.

“Sa three-day weather outlook sa piling siyudad dito sa Luzon area — kung makikita natin for Metro Manila [at] Baguio City, generally fair weather conditions tayo hanggang sa mga susunod na araw,” said Torres in a public weather forecast.

(In the three-day weather outlook for selected cities here in the Luzon area — we can see that in Metro Manila [and] Baguio City, we will have generally fair weather conditions in the next few days.)

Torres attributed this “clear” weather condition to the continued effect of the northeast monsoon, otherwise known as “amihan.”

But apart from the northeast monsoon, two other weather systems are affecting the country: the shearline and easterlies.

According to Torres, the combined effects of shear line and easterlies may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Bicol Region, Quezon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.

Residents of these areas were warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the country, on the other hand, may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

“Otherwise, besides sa northeast monsoon, shear line, at easterlies ay wala naman po tayong namamataan na low pressure area o bagyo sa loob at labas ng ating area of responsibility na posibleng makaapekto sa anumang bahagi ng bansa sa mga susunod na araw,” said Torres.

(Otherwise, besides the northeast monsoon, shear line, and easterlies, we do not see any low pressure area or tropical cyclone inside or outside our area of responsibility that could potentially affect any part of the country in the next few days.)
