MANILA, Philippines — By July, the government is hoping the motorists passing through toll roads will only pay fees via digital means and with a single e-wallet, if they opt to, even though they are traversing expressways owned by operators with different payment platforms.
Toll Regulatory Board Executive Director Alvin Carullo told reporters last week they were targeting to implement cashless toll plazas in full and the interoperability of e-wallets for toll fee payments in about six months.
By March 31, Carullo said they would be able to complete the dry run for the cashless collection program that started on Sept. 1 last year.

Further evaluation of the data gathered will be conducted then before the full implementation.
