NCRPO all set for Traslacion 2024; devotees reminded of restrictions

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is all set for the Traslacion 2024, or the Feast of the Black Nazarene, in Quiapo, Manila and has already commenced a send-off ceremony for its personnel at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on Sunday.
In a statement on Sunday, the NCRPO, along with the Manila Police District and the city’s local government, assured the public of a secure and safe feast as it plans to deploy over 15,000 personnel from January 9 to 10.
“With an estimated crowd of 2.3M, a total of 15,276 personnel will be deployed on the peak of the activity on January 9 to January 10, 2024,” the NCRPO said.
Aside from NCRPO police officers, other units and troops of the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region of the Armed Forces of the Philippines will also dispatch personnel for the event.
Restrictions
The NCRPO reminded the public that “no vendors are allowed within the vicinity of Quiapo Church; and devotees are not allowed to wear hoodie jacket, caps, use backpacks, water bottle, umbrella and raincoats, firecrackers or pyrotechnics, deadly or bladed weapons, and intoxicated people are not allowed to join the procession.”
Authorities will likewise implement a “no-fly zone and no drone zone” within the vicinity of Quirino Grandstand and Quiapo Church as well as routes of the procession from January 7 to 10, while a “no sail zone” at the vicinity waters of South Harbor, Manila (near Quirino Grandstand) and Pasig River from 12 a.m. of January 6 to 12 a.m. of January 10.
Gun ban
A gun ban in the City of Manila will be imposed from 7:00 a.m. on January 8 up to 7:00 a.m. on January 10.
Rerouting plan
Motorists are also advised to take alternative routes since road closures will be enforced in and around the procession route.
Re-routing will be enforced starting from 9 p.m. on January 8.
