MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies, rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in many parts of the country on Sunday due to the easterlies, shearline and northeast. monsoon (amihan), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“The shearline is affecting the eastern part of Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas and will bring rains to the said regions, as well as in the Bicol region,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castaneda said in Filipino in an early morning update.
“The northeast monsoon or amihan is prevailing over the rest of Luzon and will trigger isolated rain showers, while rainfall and thunderstorms are likewise expected in the eastern parts of Mindanao and the Visayas due to the easterlies,” Castaneda added.
Cloudy skies with possible isolated rain showers are expected in Metro Manila and nearby areas.
Pagasa warned of possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas.
The state weather bureau added that no storm or typhoon is expected to affect the country in the coming days.
Moderate to rough sea conditions are expected in Luzon and slight to moderate in the Visayas and Mindanao.
