MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said that his New Year’s resolution was to spend more time with his family in 2024.
“Ang aking New Year’s resolution simple lang, to spend more time with my family at hindi ko na sila halos nakikita dahil siyempre busy tayo busy rin sila. Pero palagay ko napakalaking kaginhawaan at parang lumalamig ang ulo ko at nagiging maliwang ang pag-iisip ko kapag may panahon na kasama ko ang pamilya ko,” Marcos said in his vlog.
(My New Year’s Resolution is simple: to spend more time with my family because I don’t get to see them since we are all busy. I think having time to spend with my family brings such relief, and it cools my head and my mind becomes clear.)
The Chief Executive also shared some tips with the public on how they can make their own improvements for the new year.
“Halimbawa na lang, ‘wag na nating isipin ang masyadong malalaking New Year’s resolution. Simulan lang natin sa sarili natin, sa mga pamilya natin,” he said.
(For example, let’s not think of big New Year’s resolutions. Let’s start with ourselves, with our families.)
“Unang-una, ‘wag na tayong ma-late sa trabaho. Lagi tayong on-time. Hindi na pwede ‘yong pwede na, kailangan, magandang trabaho. ‘Wag niyong iiwanan ang trabahong hindi tapos, huwag niyong iiwanan hanggang maipagmamalaki mo na ang ginagawa mo,” he added.
(Let’s not be late for work; be on time. Being barely passable should not be a norm; quality work should be the norm instead. Do not leave your work on hold, and don’t leave it until you can be proud of it.)
Marcos added that New Year’s resolutions can also help in the collective improvement of the country.
“Ang mga pangako natin sa ating mga sarili patungkol sa disiplina o maging sa pagpahusay ng ating mga abilidad o ‘yong mga self-improvement na tinatawag, lahat ‘yan ay may maitutulong sa ating bayan,” Marcos said.
(The promises we make to ourselves regarding discipline, the improvement of our abilities, and our self-improvement can be helpful to our country.)
