Power line project under study

A PROPOSED 25-kilometer  overhead transmission line project that will cross  Cebu City,   Mactan and Mandaue City will be reviewed by the Provincial Board (PB) in next Monday’s session.

The PB is inviting engineer Carmelino De Leon, head of the Engineering Construction Department of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) to discuss  the project.

The 138 KV  transmission line will link  power generated by the Cebu Energy Development Corp. (CEDC) and the Korean Power Corp.-Salcon Power Corp. (Kepco-SPC).

The line  will provide power in three substations in Talamban, Mactan and Mandaue City.

The CEDC will be able to provide 246 megawatts that adds to the  200 megawatts from Kepco-SPC through its newly inaugurated coal plant in barangay Colon, Naga City. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus with an Inquirer report
