Palace issues memo on January observance of Community Dev't Week

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., through Memorandum Circular No. 41, designated the first week of January as the Community Development Week and January 6 as Community Development Day. 

“All national government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, and state universities and colleges are hereby directed, and all local government units are encouraged, to extend full support for, and cooperation in, the conduct of relevant activities and programs during the annual celebration of the Community Development Week and Community Development Day,” stated the Circular. 

According to the Palace,  both events are dedicated to raising the spirit of “Bayanihan” and community cooperation. 

“The proclamation also aims to recognize the invaluable contributions and concerted efforts of both government and non-government organizations in the development of local communities, people empowerment and community mobilization,” said Malacañang in a Facebook post.

The memo was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Wednesday but released to the media on Thursday.
