MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Airlines’ flight PR424 (Manila – Haneda) has been put on hold after a Japan Airlines aircraft caught on fire at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Tuesday.
PAL, in an advisory, said the flight is on hold until they receive further advice from the Haneda authorities that they are able to accept incoming flights.
“PR424 is currently on hold, awaiting clearance, while Japan Airlines JL78, scheduled to depart today at 2320H, is also awaiting an announcement. All Nippon Airways NH870 (MNL-HND), which departed at 1450H, has diverted to Kansai Airport,” it said.
“The airport runway closure in Haneda is due to a flight arrival incident involving another airline. We seek the patience and understanding of our passengers on PR424. This is a developing situation,” PAL added.
“Original Estimated Time of Departure was 7:05 p.m. Manila time.”
In a separate advisory issued Tuesday evening, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport advised all passengers flying to or from Tokyo’s Haneda airport to “check with their airline on their flight’s status due to the closure of runways.”
