MANILA, Philippines — About 93 inmates at Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong city welcomed 2024 with their loved ones who are also jailed in another facility of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

The visitors were persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa city who have family members, relatives or friends that are detained at CIW.

The events were held on December 31 last year and January 1 this year.

“The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) strongly believes that the visitation opportunity during this Holiday Season alleviates the PDL’s [persons deprived of liberty] worry and homesickness as they serve their term in the facility,” the bureau said.

“The Bureau continues to prioritize the well-being and provide means to improve the living conditions of our clientele,” it added.
