MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) on Monday said two persons died and three others were injured in the 27 fire incidents that broke out in Metro Manila from December 31, 2023 to 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2024.
Nineteen fires broke out on New Year’s Eve, while the eight others occurred at around midnight to 1 a.m. on January 1, the BFP reported.
Seven fires broke out in Quezon City, four in the City of Manila, three each in the cities of Malabon, Las Piñas, and Taguig, two in Pasig and one each in the cities of Muntinlupa, Makati, Caloocan, and Parañaque.
BFP’s data also showed that most of the fire incidents broke out in residential areas, while others happened in structural and non-structural areas such as electrical posts and vacant lots.

Damage to property was pegged at P76 million.
