Caloocan police, BFP intensify drive vs illegal fireworks, firecrackers

Caloocan police, BFP intensify drive vs illegal fireworks, firecrackers

MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan City police and Bureau of Fire Protection – Caloocan visited and inspected several markets in the city to make sure only authorized fireworks and firecrackers are sold to the public.

According to the Caloocan City Public Information Office, the inspection is in compliance with Mayor Along Malapitan’s City Executive Order No. 065-23, aimed at barring the sale of illegal firecrackers such as Atomic Bomb, Super Lolo, and Trianggulo.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) earlier released an official list of prohibited firecrackers — Piccolo, Watusi, Giant whistle bomb, Giant bawang, large Judas belt, Pillbox, boga, Kwiton, Goodbye Earth, Goodbye Bading, Goodbye Delima, Goodbye Napoles, Goodbye Philippines, Coke-in-Can, and other unlabeled and imported firecrackers.

Meanwhile, the firecrackers / fireworks that can be sold legally are Butterfly, Fountain, Roman candle, Sparklers, Trompillo, Luces, Mabuhay and Whistle device. 

 Under Republic Act 7183, individuals who “manufacture, sell, distribute or use prohibited firecrackers will be punished by a fine “not less than P20,000 nor more than P30,000” and may face imprisonment of not less than six months or more than one year.
