Zubiri recalls Rizal’s legacy: ‘Let’s not let his sacrifice to go in vain’

MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri asked Filipinos to go on fighting the battle that Dr. Jose Rizal fought and uphold the national hero’s sacrifices.
“Ipagpatuloy po natin ang kanyang laban at huwag nating hayaang mauwi sa wala ang kanyang sakripisyo,” remarked Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.
(Let’s continue his fight and let’s not let his sacrifice go in vain.)
“Magkaisa tayo sa pagmamahal at sa pagtatanggol ng ating bayan at ng ating mga kapwa Pilipino,” he said.
(Let us be united in love and in defense of our country and our fellow Filipinos.)
The Senate leader made the statement on Saturday, December 30, on the observance of the 127th Death Anniversary of Rizal.
According to Zubiri, Filipinos should also look back on the hero’s “wholehearted love” for the country and how he gave his life for its freedom.
