Rizal Day treat: Free MRT-3, LRT-2 rides from 7-9a.m., 5-7p.m.

LRTA announce the suspension of LRT-2 operations from April 6-9 as the nation observes Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday, and Easter Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3)  and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will extend free rides from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30,  Rizal Day, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Friday.

“Sa pamamagitan po ng aming libreng sakay, hangad ng MRT-3 na maipadama ang pakikiisa ng buong linya sa paggunita sa ika-127 anibersaryo ng kabayanihan ni Gat Jose Rizal,” said Transport Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 officer-in-charge Jorjette Aquino in an advisory posted on DOTr’s Facebook account.

(Through the free rides, MRT-3 joins the entire nation in commemorating the 127th anniversary of the heroism of Gat Jose Rizal.)

The DOTr also said that the first MRT-3 train from North Avenue station will depart at 4:37 a.m. while the first train coming from Taft Avenue station will leave at 5:18 a.m.

Meanwhile, the last trip from North Avenue station will be at 9:30 p.m. and the final trip at Taft Avenue Station will be at 10:08 p.m.

The Light Rail Transit Authority also announced free LRT-2 rides starting at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Rizal Day.

Meantime, the first LRT-2 trains will leave Antipolo and Rectos stations at 5 a.m.

The last train from the Antipolo station will leave at 9 p.m. while the last trip from Recto Station will depart at 9:30 p.m.
