Bongbong Marcos signs laws for 7 higher education institutions
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed seven laws that upgraded two higher education institutions (HEI) and allowed five other universities to have a college of medicine, said the Palace on Thursday.
According to Republic Act (RA) No. 11968, the San Isidro Satellite campus of the Leyte Normal University (LNU) is now a regular campus. It shall now be known as LNU-San Isidro Campus.

“He also signed into law RA No. 11969, converting the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU)-Bagac Extension Campus in Bagac, Bataan to a regular campus that will be known as ‘BPSU-Bagac Campus,’” said the Palace in a statement.

Article continues after this advertisementMarcos also signed five different laws that established a college of medicine in five different universities. These HEIs include:
- Benguet State University-College of Medicine
- Southern Luzon State University-College of Medicine
- University of Eastern Philippines-College of Medicine
- Visayas State University-College of Medicine
- Bicol University-College of Veterinary Medicine
Marcos signed the law on December 20, but the Palace only released copies of the law to the media on Thursday.
