Over P31,000 illegal firecrackers seized, destroyed in Cagayan Valley

TUGUEGARAO CITY – Police and firefighters destroyed 2,485 pieces of illegal firecrackers worth P31,121 following a crackdown in Cagayan Valley.

The confiscation of the illegal firecrackers is part of the government’s campaign, “Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan 2023,’ to ensure public safety during the Christmas and New Year revelries.

Brig. Gen. Cristopher Birung, Cagayan Valley police director said the campaign against illegal firecrackers will continue until January 2, 2024.

The Department of Health (DOH)-Cagayan Valley recorded four fireworks-related injuries from Christmas Eve until Tuesday.

The figure is 50 percent lower than the eight injuries recorded during the same period in 2022, the DOH added.
