SC: True meaning of Christmas is ‘service, empathy, and sacrifice’
MANILA, Philippines — Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo urged Filipinos to take to heart the true meaning of Christmas: “service, empathy, and sacrifice.”
“For this is the true meaning of Christmas: service, empathy, and sacrifice. And as we celebrate this season, may we take this message to heart, and allow it to inspire us not just on Christmas day but every day,” Gesmundo said.
The Chief Justice made this statement in his Christmas message on Monday.
He added that members of the Judiciary are likewise called to lead lives of service.
“For us in the Judiciary, as the holiday season warrants reflection, we are similarly stirred to lead lives of service committed to fairness and empathy as guardians of the people’s rights, knowing that there can be no peace without justice,” he continued.
Gesmundo added that they join the country in “celebration and in common aspirations for justice and peace.”
