9 NPA rebels killed in Bukidnon clash
Nine New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in an armed encounter on Christmas day with government troops in the hinterlands of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, a top regional Army official said.
Major General Jose Maria Cuerpo, commanding general of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, said the rebels appeared to be preparing for a gathering in time for the founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines on Tuesday.
DOH: Count of fireworks-related injuries jump to 28
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 16 more fireworks-related injuries, increasing the total count to 28 ahead of the New Year celebration.
Data from DOH showed that from 6:00 a.m. on December 24 to 5:59 a.m. on December 25, 15 males and one female were wounded due to firecrackers. Their ages range from six to 35 years old.
