MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government expects a large turnout for its New Year countdown, with slow traffic anticipated around the event site on New Year’s Eve.

The local government unit announced Monday that traffic on Elliptical Road would be impacted Dec. 31 due to the “QC Countdown to 2024” at Quezon Memorial Circle, beginning at 4 p.m.

The city government advised motorists to seek alternative routes in an advisory.

“The personnel of the Traffic and Transport Management Department and the Department of Public Order and Safety will work together and stand by to manage traffic flow in the area,” the Quezon City Government said in a post.

The city government previously announced that the countdown to 2024 would feature celebrity host Vice Ganda and other artists. A traditional fireworks display will mark the end of the event.

Admission is free, according to the Quezon City government.
