A CHEMISTRY professor of Negros Oriental State University in Dumaguete City was one of seven Philippine delegates who attended the 22nd Pacific Science Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 14 to June 18.
Prof. Fraulein Cabanban Cabanag was among the 1,000 participants worldwide who took part in the congress with the theme “Asia Pacific Science in the 21st Century: Meeting the Challenges of Global Change.”
Cabanag said the congress had ten sessions daily, discussing risk management, coastal management, biodiversity, ecology, economics, demography, chemistry, atmospheric conditions and air quality.
“It was truly a venue for collaborations among scientists and academic institutions,” Cabanag said in a statement from NORSU.
Cabanag, a member of the Pacific Science Association, attended forum upon the invitation of Dr. Ahmad Zaidee Laidin, vice president of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and chairman of the organizing committee.
The congress aimed to provide interdisciplinary platform for scientists. It also served as a catalyst for scientific and scholarly collaboration for new research initiatives.
