Marcos: Filipinos should become instruments of hope and light

President Marcos on Sunday greeted Filipinos a joyful Christmas and urged them to remember the genuine meaning of the season by becoming instruments of hope and light for those who are in need.

In a message posted on his official social media pages, the President said Christmas is an occasion for Filipinos to honor the birth of Christ “by expressing gratitude for the boundless love that God has showered upon us through the time-honored Filipino traditions of “Simbang Gabi,” gift-giving and feasts with our friends, relatives, and families.”

But more than just a day of celebration, Mr. Marcos said, Filipinos should be reminded that the “true meaning of Christmas” lies in the recognition of the season as an opportunity to reach out to those who are suffering from solitude, sickness, and poverty.

“Indeed, there is no better way for us to share the gift of Christmas than by spreading hope to those who need it the most this holiday season,” he said.

“Let us kindle our hearts with goodwill, kindness, and compassion as we spread merriment in our home and communities. By doing so, we do not only bring peace, love, and unity, but become living instruments of the timeless adage that God’s work here on earth is truly our own,” he added.

The Presidential Communications Office said the President and his family “will just be in Manila” for Christmas.
