“This will be our initiative to spread the awareness about road safety. This will also be a response to the United Nations’ bid to strengthen road safety awareness in the whole world,” said MIIC senior vice president Alexander Reyes during yesterday’s official launching at the Laguna Garden Cafe at the Terraces.

MIIC chose Cebu to stage their first-ever running event because of the popularity of the sport in the city.

“Most of our local elite runners’ income comes from races so they have to be given a chance to win,” said Baring, who will allow foreign runners to join the non-competitive side of the race.

Registration fee is pegged at P250 for the short-distance races while P350 is pegged for the 6k and 12k categories.
