Ecleo in ‘Wanted’ posters

/ 06:47 AM May 05, 2012

Police are hoping that posters showing Rep. Ruben Ecleo Jr. as a fugitive will lead to his arrest.

Posters of a grim-faced Ecleo holding up a name card with his name and the word “parricide” finally appeared Thursday night in different police stations in Cebu City.

The photo was taken during his arrest a few years ago.

The posters, produced on simple computer printouts, state “WANTED” and the reward of P150,000 with the phone number of the CIB or Criminal Investigation Bureau.

FEATURED STORIES

Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, Cebu City police director, said he will inspect police stations to check whether the posters he ordered are actually put up.

Ecleo was sentenced to 20 to 40 years imprisonment for killing his wife Alona Bacolod in 2002. He was also ordered to pay Alona’s siblings P26.3 million in damages when the verdict was handed down April 13.

Buenafe said the posting of the wanted posters is one way to encourage the public to cooperate in arresting Ecleo.

A P150,000 cash reward is being offered to anyone who could give information that would lead to Ecleo’s arrest./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
